Before shredding it is important to tune your guitar. To tune your guitar in standard tuning play figure E and tune your guitar accordingly. The A string (second string from the top) should sound identical to the fifth fret of the low E string. The D string (third string from the top) should sound identical to the fifth fret of the A string. The G string (fourth string from the top) should sound identical to the fifth fret of the D string. The B string (fifth string from the top) should sound identical to the fourth fret of the G string. The high E string (sixth string from the top) should sound identical to the fifth fret of the B string.
